Japanese flower arrangement

Japanese flower arrangement is a traditional art still practiced by many Japanese. For the Japanese tea ceremony there is a special way to arrange flowers. Flowers are usually placed in the Tokonoma on the left side, either in a standing vase or a hanging one. In case of a hanging vase it is usually made from bamboo. This unique flower arrangement for the tea ceremony is called Chabana. Chabana only uses a few flowers, branches and leaves which represent the current season. Flowers and leaves can be collected in the neigbourhood of the tea house to establish a connection with the surrounding nature within the tea room.
